Being a front runner in using Desi beats for hip-hop tunes, Grammy-winning American singer and producer Timbaland takes it to another level in his new solo project, "Shock Value." His track "Bombay" features British-Asian singer Amar Dhanjan, whose Hindi vocals were remixed into the popular hit, "Promiscuous Girl," and "Man Eater."
It seems as though Timbaland was very impressed and subsequently gave her a track on his album. The experimental portion of the album is interesting, to say the least.
On "Bombay," Timbaland combines his beats with the styles of South India, creating an effectively unique mix. Though the album is distinctly hip-hop, there is a surprising and refreshing burst of other great genres that pop up
in the mix. It perhaps comes as no surprise that the young Dhanjan
has found her space in the musical world. Her father, Mangal Singh, is a well-known singer in the UK and globally known for his famous "Rail Gaddi" song.
