After 79 years, the name of luxury in Boston, Mass., and the name of one
of the most treasured landmarks in the city, has changed from the Ritz-Carlton
to Taj Boston. This past winter, The Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces agreed to purchase the Ritz-Carlton for a cool $170 million price tag. Once the deal was finalized, the Ritz-Carlton Boston exists only in history.
The former Ritz-Carlton Boston was long known for its first-class architecture, service, and prime central location.
It is housed in one of the world's most famous retail districts, Newbury St., and located next to the Boston Public Gardens. Over the nearly 80 years in existence, the hotel has housed royalty and celebrities with shocking frequency. Now, Taj Boston hopes to extend that fame to its new hotel
and its management.
According to the new general manager of Taj Boston, David M. Gibbons, "Guests will immediately notice the unrivalled Taj service and style."
Among the new and improved features
of Taj Boston include PLOH terry bath-robes, luxury bed and bath commodities, sophisticated floral decorations and refined staff uniforms.
The new Taj Boston Club, located on the 15th and 16th floors, displays exquisite Taj touches. The hotel also plans to reopen the former Ritz-Carlton's "iconic dining room," currently available only for private events, to the public. Furthermore, the hotel will undergo a three-year modernization plan that
Puppets Bring India Alive includes an update of the Presidential Suite and the creation of a new Taj Boston Spa.
Besides the acquisition of the Ritz-Carlton Boston, Taj Hotels Resorts and
Palaces have luxurious hotels in both New York and San Francisco.
They also have grand plans to acquire more hotel properties on the East and West Coast of America.
