As the strong, highly-spiced Latin sounds fill your ears sung by a dashingly good-looking singer who salsas like it's in his blood, it's hard to tear your
eyes away from this new Latin flavored video. But as the lyrics start to emerge, you will be caught off-guard. Swati Sinha wrote the Hindi lyrics...yes, Hindi... to this new fusion album titled "Rang Rangeeli Yeh Duniya," which
is sung and performed by Indian American Giju John.
John brings the musical sounds and dance from Latin America together with a Bollywood flavor while using Hindi as its base. The fresh new sound produced is the start of a new trend we fondly call "SalsaWood" or "BollySalz."
"Like all music enthusiasts, I also truly believe that music has no boundaries. Even though I was trained in Indian classical music, I was exposed to global music at a very early age. It served as a good foundation for me to appreciate and try out other music styles," John tells indianlifeandstyle.com.
Having just launched his debut album in Mumbai, he already has a star-studded beginning. Indian rapper Baba Sehgal, chart-topping singer Hema Sardesai and pop star Anaida were all there to support John's musical endeavors and debut album kick-off.
"Salsa is the gateway to fulfill my dreams. Why not combine salsa with Indian pop? This is something that has never been attempted before," explains this talented singing and dancing newcomer.
John studied dance and music for many years before his recent burst of success. As a trained engineer, he must learn to balance his intellectual and creative sides carefully to achieve success. John adds, "It had been one long,
arduous and challenging journey for me and I do cherish every bit of it."
