New York Fashion Awards Honor Bollywood's Best

The sixth annual Bollywood Fashion Awards, held at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City, proved to be star-packed. These awards celebrate the eye-catching fashions and styles that are so prominent in Bollywood films. Popular Indian designers Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi showcased their work on models of Indian descent.

The guest list was equally glamorous. Attendees ranged from Ruby Dhalla, a member of India's Parliament, to Raj Bhakta and Toral Mehta of "The Apprentice" (TV show) fame. The exquisite host of the evening was the lead actor from the musical "Bombay Dreams," Manu Narayan, while the special guest was the Emmy-award winning actor and globally recognized humanitarian, Ben Vereen.

According to the producers of the show, this event was the first time that a South Asian award ceremony had international celebrities participating in the celebrations. The Bollywood Fashion Awards were given the honor of presenting the Sammy Davis, Jr. Award, which was presented to Vereen by Davis' wife, Altovise. Davis strongly believed that entertainment and fashion have a symbiotic relationship, which is clearly represented through the Bollywood Fashion Awards.
